Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A COMPLIMENTARY PHONE CONSULTATION?

The primary focus of the phone consultation is to determine if I am a good fit for you. This is a great time to ask any questions that you may have.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE? ARE YOU IN-NETWORK?

While I am indeed paneled with several insurance companies, I am currently at my threshold for insurance based clientele. I am most likely able to provide you with a monthly bill to be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement for out of network mental health services. Though most of my clients navigate this process with ease, I cannot guarantee that your insurance claims will be approved.

DO YOU OFFER SLIDING SCALE SERVICES?

I believe in affordable access for all who feel they will benefit from therapeutic support and therefore reserve several spots for clients needing reduced session fees. Sliding scale fees and availability are based on clients’ income and urgency of need.

I SEE LOTS OF DIFFERENT LETTERS IN YOUR NAME AND SIGNATURE. WHAT DO THEY ALL MEAN?

There are many paths towards becoming a therapist! The paths (and respective letters) denote what kind of education/degree, training, areas of focus, etc. the therapist is likely to have.

MA [Master of Arts] lets you know that I have completed postgraduate masters level studies. In my case, I hold Master’s in both Psychology and Theology.

LMFT [Marriage and Family Therapist] means I have been trained not only to work with individuals, but couples and families of all kinds!

CMHS [Child Mental Health Specialist] is an endorsement by Washington’s Department of Health that I am certified to work with children and youth.

WOULD OUR WORK BE CONFIDENTIAL?

Absolutely! Other than a few certain circumstances where I would be mandated to break confidentiality (i.e., an order from a judge or someone who is a significant threat to self/other) everything we speak about is confidential. I practice with your discretion in mind.
